Government should: in line with advice issued by the UN on women’s asylum, nationality and statelessness issues: (a) Introduce a time limit on immigration detention and implement alternatives to detention. (b) stop detaining pregnant women and nursing mothers. (c) Help women seeking asylum and refugee women to access employment and appropriate housing.

Recalling its general recommendation No. 32 (2014) on the gender-related dimensions of refugee status, asylum, nationality and statelessness of women, the Committee recommends that the State party: (a) Introduce a general time limit on immigration detention and implement alternatives to detention. (b) Take immediate measures to end the detention of pregnant women and nursing mothers. (c) Take measures to enable asylum-seeking and refugee women to access employment and appropriate housing.
