Government should: (a) Strengthen the capacity of the Government Equalities Office so that it can provide national leadership on women’s rights. (b) Consider setting up an oversight body for coordinating and monitoring how the Convention is implemented, including the input of national human rights institutions and women’s organisations. (c) Develop a strategy to ensure that the Convention is implemented across the UK and its territories. (d) collect and publish data by sex, gender, ethnicity, disability and age across the UK and its territories to support policy-making and assess the impact of action already taken.

The Committee recommends that the State party: (a) Continue to take measures to strengthen the capacity of the Government Equalities Office to function as an effective national machinery for the advancement of women. (b) Consider establishing a national oversight mechanism to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Convention, with the effective participation of its national human rights institutions and women’s organizations. (c) Develop and adopt a unified, comprehensive and overarching national strategy for the implementation of the Convention throughout the whole of its territory. (d) Systematically collect and publish data disaggregated by sex, gender, ethnicity, disability and age throughout the whole of its territory to inform policy-making and assess the impact of measures taken.
