Government should:
Remove the Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act 2023 and bring in measures that improve relationships between different cultural groups based on understanding, tolerance and respect. Government is urged to consider recommendations made by the Human Rights Committee on this issue.
Original UN recommendation
The Committee recommends that the State Party repeal the Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act 2023 and implement measures to create conditions conducive to constructive intercultural relations based on mutual understanding, tolerance and respect. It also urges the State Party to refer to the recommendations made by the Human Rights Committee in that regard.
