Plain English recommendation
Government should: (a) Revise the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights to make businesses consider their impact on children’s rights, in line with UN advice on the impact of business on children’s rights. (b) Introduce and enforce laws to ensure businesses respect children’s rights, including in public procurement processes.
Original UN recommendation
With reference to its general comment No. 16 (2013) on State obligations regarding the impact of business on children’s rights, the Committee recommends that the State party: (a) Integrate an explicit focus on children’s rights, including the requirement for businesses to undertake child-rights due diligence, in the revised version of its first National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights; (b) Establish and implement regulations to ensure that the business sector, including in the context of public procurement, complies with the rights of the child.
