Government should: (a) Take urgent steps to provide redress, including compensation and rehabilitation, for victims identified by the Historical Institution Abuse Inquiry into child abuse in children’s homes and other institutions in Northern Ireland in the 1990s. (b) Speed up the process of setting up an impartial investigation into the Magdalene Laundries and Mother and Baby Homes in Northern Ireland. This investigation should identify victims of ill-treatment and provide them with redress.

The State party should: (a) As a matter of urgency, adopt measures to provide victims of ill-treatment in Northern Ireland identified by the Historical Institution Abuse Inquiry with redress, including compensation and the means for as full a rehabilitation as possible. (b) Expedite the process of carrying out an impartial and effective investigation into the practices of the Magdalene Laundries and Mother and Baby Homes in Northern Ireland that is capable of resulting in the prompt identification of victims of ill-treatment inflicted at those institutions and the provision of redress to them.
