Plain English recommendation
Government should: Put into practice the UN’s previous recommendation on captured child soldiers for all under 18s: Ensure children can only be detained as a last resort and inadequate conditions. Regularly review and monitor these conditions. Ensure detained children can access complaints procedures. Inform parents/ close relatives of the detention.
Original UN recommendation
The Committee recommends that the State party implement its previous recommendation on the Optional Protocol, on captured child soldiers (CRC/C/OPAC/GBR/CO/1, para. 29), for all children under 18 years old.
