ICESCR concluding observations 2016, paragraph 44

Government should:

Ensure childcare services are accessible and affordable, particularly in Northern Ireland.

Review the system of shared parental leave. Make changes to support the equal sharing of duties within the family and in wider society.


Original UN recommendation

The Committee recommends that the State party increase its efforts to ensure the availability, accessibility and affordability of childcare services throughout the State party, particularly in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Committee also recommends that the State party review the system of shared parental leave and modify it with a view to improve the equal sharing of responsibilities within the family and in the society.
